Enhancing and Protecting Our Community Parks

Commissioner McCarty understands that a thriving community needs safe, accessible, and clean parks. His dedication to enhancing and protecting our parks has led to numerous initiatives aimed at ensuring these spaces are enjoyable for all residents.

Ensuring Park Safety and Maintenance

Steven has worked closely with the Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) and the Department of General Services (DGS) to ensure that 10th St. Park remains a safe, clean, and fun place for families and neighbors. He has partnered with the park's board to replace broken gates, preventing unauthorized access after hours. Additionally, he has ensured that lights are fixed promptly, allowing the park to be used safely during shorter days and winter months.

Addressing Environmental Concerns

When residents expressed concerns about mosquitoes in 10th St. Park, Steven partnered with DPR to facilitate mosquito abatement efforts. He has also coordinated projects with DPR to address concerns about plant health in the park, ensuring a healthy and vibrant environment for all visitors.

Community Engagement and Events

Steven has partnered deeply with the Friends of 10th St. Park, serving as a Director and helping to plan community events that activate the space and bring neighbors together. These events foster a sense of community and ensure that the park is a vibrant hub of activity.
