Enhancing Public Works for a Better Community
Commissioner McCarty has worked relentlessly to ensure the District Department of Public Works (DPW) serves all constituents effectively. His dedication to improving public works has driven numerous initiatives aimed at maintaining a clean, safe, and well-functioning community.
Parking Enforcement
Steven has diligently collaborated with parking enforcement to guarantee regular and consistent monitoring in the 2G04 alleyways. Recognizing the inefficiencies in DPW's parking enforcement within our historic corridors, Steven has passed resolutions urging DPW to improve their performance. While some progress has been made, Steven acknowledges that much more needs to be done. He plans to continue working closely with DPW, particularly with their new task force for booting and towing cars, to deter illegal parking in our alleys.
Trash and Recycling Collection
Steven is committed to ensuring consistent and regular garbage and recycling pickups. He has actively worked with neighbors and community organizations to address missed trash collections promptly. When residents mistakenly had their trash services cut off by DPW, Steven collaborated with multiple agencies, including the Office of Administrative Hearings, to restore their services.
Graffiti Removal
Steven has also been proactive in addressing issues of vandalism. When residents and churches have been victims of graffiti, he has worked with DPW to ensure swift graffiti removal. His hands-on approach and persistent advocacy demonstrate his dedication to making public works function optimally for the benefit of our community members.
Through these efforts, Commissioner McCarty is committed to enhancing the efficiency and responsiveness of public works, ensuring that our neighborhoods are clean, safe, and well-maintained.
