Advocating for Enhanced Public Transportation

Commissioner McCarty understands the vital role that public transportation plays in our community and has been a strong advocate for its improvement. He has joined Advisory Neighborhood Commission 2G in advocating for the restoration of Circulator services between Shaw and the Waterfront, recognizing the importance of this route for connecting residents to key areas and supporting local businesses.

Steven also understands the significance of the Mt. Vernon Square metro stop for our neighborhood and will continue to advocate for its maintenance and enhancement. Reliable and consistent public transportation is essential for the well-being of our community, and Steven will continue to push for DC to invest in necessary improvements.

In the summer of 2023, Steven voted in support of a Commission resolution endorsing the Council's legislation for 24/7 select bus routes. This resolution called for the Council to follow through on their legislation and provide the funding needed to guarantee these routes, ensuring that all residents, including service staff and late-night riders, have access to safe and reliable transit options at all times.

Through his dedicated efforts, Commissioner McCarty is committed to advocating for public transportation solutions that meet the needs of all community members, ensuring our neighborhood remains well-connected and accessible.
